Your Procedure

Many women choose board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Rios for breast augmentation because he specializes in breast enhancement surgery procedures. Dr. Rios typically performs breast augmentation as an outpatient procedure usually at either the Center for Surgery in Naperville or the Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center (EOSC), which means most patients return home the day of surgery after recovering from the anesthesia. He typically uses general anesthesia during breast augmentation so the patient is asleep for the entire procedure.

Incision Site

When performing breast augmentation, Dr. Rios usually places the incisions in one of the following areas:

  • Around the lower edge of the areola, called a periareolar incision
  • Along the breast crease (inframammary fold), called an inframammary incision
  • In a natural crease of the armpit, called a transaxillary incision

The incision site chosen for your surgery will depend on the type of implants you choose and your personal preferences.

Implant Placement

Breast implants are placed either above or underneath the chest muscle. For most women, placing the breast implants beneath the chest muscle provides the most natural-looking results.
